What we will be learning about and doing this week?
We will going back in time......to the 2000s!
We will be looking at how Ipods and Ipads work and creating our own inventions and writing instructions on how to use them.
In Maths we will be exploring fractions of an amount and time.
Talk homework: We will be looking at he invention of the Ipad this week, what invention do you think will be around in 100 years time? How will it work?

Miss Quinn's, Mrs Mares' & Mrs Witting's spelling group
Children will come home with their spelling log books. These will have spellings that the children need some more help with after learning the spelling rule of the week or they may be a variety of words used in their writing that they can focus on. Once the children have learnt them please send their log books back ready for the next spelling rule. It would be helpful if you could sign and date the log book to say that they have worked on them. These spellings will not be tested but children will continue to have tests based on the rules that they are learning.
Reasons to Celebrate:
The Squirrels thoroughly enjoyed making their own hand puppets after being inspired by Sooty and Sweep.
Thank you to the buddies who have done a marvelous job on the playground this term.
Last day of swimming:
Wednesday 12th July
Accelerated Readers & School library books:
All books need to be returned to school by Monday 10th July.
Goals towards independence:
We will be introducing an ‘Independence goal chart’ next week to help prepare the children for their transition into Year 3. The children will have some goals to work towards during the weeks to follow in order to achieve their Independence certificate. They will also be working towards a Celebration Tea Party at the end of the term as a reward for their achievement.
It would be great to have your support and help by encouraging more independence at home i.e. packing their homework bag for school, remembering to bring their PE kit to school etc.
Thank you for your support.
Swimming - Summer term:
The Year 2's will be having their first swimming lesson on Wednesday 26th April. Year 2 Squirrels will be swimming in the first session followed by Year 2 Badgers swimming in the second session.
We will have a weekly rota in the office for parents who are able to help walking the children to and from the Leisure centre. Please sign up for days you are able to help.
Thank you in advance!
Keyboard typing games:
If you wish to provide your child with a snack, please ensure that it is fruit or vegetable based as we are a healthy school and would like to promote this.
Book box - Foyer:
If you have any overdue library books or any books you would like to donate to the school, you will find a big box on the floor in the foyer where you could drop these books into. Much appreciated.
Children are to be collected from the MUGA at 3.20pm.
If it is raining the children should be collected from the main playground entrance.
We encourage the children to bring in items related to our topic for show and tell every Friday for both classes. This is not on a rota basis and children are welcome to bring something each week.
These must be brought into school daily for we believe it to be a great support to growing minds! There are now a lot of children who tend to forget their bottles and unfortunately we do not have the time in class or adult support to continually fill up jugs.
Usernames & passwords can be found in your child's reading record. The children can explore and enhance their knowledge in a fun and creative way. There are no set tasks required for the children to complete.
Children will need their full PE kits on a Monday for Squirrels, Wednesday for Badgers and both classes on a Friday. If children do not have the correct kit they will be unable to take part in the activities.
If children cannot participate during a PE lesson, please can you kindly send an email or note notifying your class teacher. Thank you.
The children will now move over to the school's Accelerated Reader programme. This works slightly differently to the Oxford Reading Tree and so all children will need to be reassessed based on this scheme.
As the cold season is fast approaching we would be very grateful for any donations of tissues for runny noses. Many thanks.
