Nursery Admissions

About our Nursery

The Holy Trinity Nursery is led by qualified teachers and follows the Government's "Early Years Foundation Stage" (EYFS) curriculum which consists of seven different areas of learning. We aim to deliver this to all the children by offering a wide variety of activities to encourage children to become independent learners that are ready for the school year ahead.

We admit children to the Nursery class for one year, from the September of the school year in which the child turns 4:
  • The children who are currently in our nursery have dates of birth between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015
  • Children with dates of birth between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 are due to start in September 2019
  • Children with dates of birth between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017 are due to start in September 2020

If there are places in the nursery after the end of the Autumn term the school may offer these to rising threes, in accordance with the criteria set out in our Admissions Policy.

Children attend for 15 hours a week in term time, with children either joining our Ladybirds Class in the mornings (from 8.30am to 11.30am Monday to Friday) or our Butterflies Class in the afternoons (12.30pm to 3.30pm Monday to Friday).  Morning and afternoon places are confirmed once all places have been allocated.  We do our best to accommodate families' preferences.

We have 52 spaces in total (26 in the morning and 26 in the afternoon).  Half of the places are allocated to Foundation place applicants (for more information please see the Admissions Policy), in keeping with our policy for the wider school.

Children who have attended the nursery at Holy Trinity do not automatically receive a place in our Reception class, nor do they have priority over those who have not attended our nursery.

How and When to Apply

As we are a voluntary aided school, we manage all nursery applications ourselves in accordance with our Admissions Policy.  Applications should be sent directly to the school and should you wish to apply for a Foundation place you will also need to complete a Supplementary Form and to return this along with your application.

The deadline for applying for a nursery place in September 2019 has already passed.  If you are interested in making a late application please contact Samantha Joiner on SBM@holytrinity.merton.sch.uk.

The deadline for applying for a nursery place in September 2020 will be in February 2020.  Application Forms and Supplementary Forms will be available on this website in the Autumn term 2019.

If you are interested in an in-year place (either because if your child is already of nursery age or because you are interested in a place for a 'rising three') please email Samantha Joiner (SBM@holytrinity.merton.sch.uk) who will let you know if we have spaces available and add you to the waiting list where applicable.
