Year 5 Email team members

Miss Thomas, Miss Procter, Mrs Rickards, Miss Hann, Mrs Moran & Mrs Ottley. 
 
All emails must go to the Year 5 team email address and not individual teacher email addresses anymore.  Any extremely sensitive emails that you do not wish to be seen by the above members should go to Mrs Rickards who will then forward on accordingly.
Please send emails about dentist appointments, late starts, change of childcare arrangements etc. to the office as teachers do not monitor their emails throughout teaching time and these emails are therefore likely to be missed.

Please check your child's resources ensuring a glue stick, pencil, pen, eraser, ruler and sharpener are readily available.

English - We will plan and begin to write our own balanced argument on 'Are we too dependent on computers,and technology'?
 
Maths - We will recap Year 5 units, including word problems, and then create our own maths quizzes based on the topics we have covered this year.
 
Computing - In Computing, we will continue to expore other animations that we can create using several photographs compiled together with small movement inbetween.
5T Animation day - Thursday 9th July.

RE - We will create presentations exploring 'What is the Christian Church like around the world? How has it developed'?
 
Science-  We will complete our end of unit assessments.
 
History - We will complete a double-page spread to showcase our learning of 'The Changing Role of Women throughout History'.
 
PSHE - We will learn about respect, boundaries and how to be an upstander.
 
D&T - 5H - We will practise our stitches (running, cross, blanket) ahead of creating our stuffed toy.
5T Sewing Day - Tuesday 14th July.

We are now revisiting previously taught spelling rules.

  • The school day begins at 8:45 and ends at 15:25.  If you are running later than 5 minutes for collection, please come through the front office where your child will be waiting for you.
  • Our library days to change reading books are everyday, when new Free Readers and AR books can be chosen in the Library.
  • Spelling words will be updated on a Friday for a test on the Friday two weeks later
  • Children should read every night for a minumum of 15 minutes.  Four of these should be logged in their Reading Record. Reading Records will be checked on a Friday.  Children have Saturday-Friday to complete and log their reading.

  • Simple pencil case (please do not send expensive pencil cases or those with ‘gadgets’ as these can be a distraction in the classroom)

  • Basic pencil sharpener (not mechanical)
  • Pritt Stick
  • Colouring pencils (not smelly or glitter pencils)
