As a Church of England school, Religious Education holds a significant place in the daily lives of both children and staff. By learning about different religions and their teachings, it fosters an understanding of diverse beliefs and encourages respect for children of other faiths, as well as for their own faith.

The Religious Education curriculum is designed to ensure that all pupils:

• Gain knowledge and understanding of a variety of religions and worldviews,

• Express ideas and insights regarding the nature, significance, and impact of these religions and worldviews,

• Develop and apply the skills necessary to engage thoughtfully with religions and worldviews.

These objectives are introduced to the children through 'Big Questions' during RE lessons. The Big Questions are assessed using specific lenses that break down these key inquiries.

• Believing - Identifying and making sense of core religious and non-religious beliefs and concepts.
• Thinking - Evaluating, reflecting on and connecting the beliefs and practices studied.
• Living - Examining how and why people put their beliefs into action in diverse ways, within their everyday lives, within their communities and in the wider world.

At Holy Trinity, we strive to fulfill our curriculum vision through high-quality teaching of the RE curriculum, daily worship, and our school ethos.

We follow a curriculum provided by the Southwark Diocese Board of Education, which was recently updated in 2024 to include new units and assessment lenses. This curriculum offers a comprehensive exploration of the five major world religions, which are taught across all year groups, while also delving into various aspects of Christianity and key celebrations in the Christian calendar.

Daily worship is central to our daily life. Each morning begins with worship, including singing songs and praying to God. Before lunch and at the end of the day, we also say a class prayer or sing a hymn.
